The depleted Portland Trail Blazers (27-44) took on Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons (26-45) in part of the NBA Monday slate. The Blazers got the win with 119-115 being the final score.
The Trail Blazers got to work early by outscoring the Pistons 67-52 in the first half. Detroit outscored Portland in each of the remaining two quarters to make it a close game in clutch time, but ultimately, they had dug themselves too deep of a hole to climb out of.
”We came out relaxed and they jumped all over us,” Cunningham said. ”I’m not sure what happened, but we have to be ready to play at the start of the game, not in the second half.”
Brandon Williams (23) and Ben McLemore (21) led the way for the Trail Blazers combining for 44 points. There were four other players on the team who reached double-figures.

Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey each provided the Pistons with 25 points apiece, but it proved to not be enough to get the win. The Pistons shot just 9-35 from beyond the arc as a team while turning it over 18 times.
In the Detroit Pistons’ previous game, they were defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers with 113-109 being the final score. Jerami Grant dropped 40 points but it wasn’t enough to get the win.
The Portland Trail Blazers were crushed 129-98 by the Indiana Pacers in their previous outing. With most of their key players sidelined with injuries, the focus is on the 2022 NBA Draft for them.
