The Portland Trail Blazers currently hold the NBA’s longest active playoff streak at eight years, but this streak is going to be coming to an end this season, as the Trail Blazers are just 26-44 and on the verge of being eliminated from postseason contention.
Winning has been a part of Portland’s culture for quite some time now, but drama this past offseason cast a shadow of doubt on this franchise and the writing has been on the wall for quite some time now for the Trail Blazers to enter some kind of a “rebuild” process.
Between the drama in their coaching search and that of the investigation of workplace misconduct within their front office, resulting in GM Neil Olshey being relieved of his duties, it just seemed like the Portland Trail Blazers was doomed for failure before all of their injury problems happened.
Undergoing abdominal surgery in January, Damian Lillard was shut down for the remainder of the season and then the Trail Blazers traded the likes of CJ McCollum, Robert Covington, and Norman Powell ahead of the trade deadline to try and salvage some value for this lost season.

Looking to “retool” instead of “rebuild”, Portland’s interest in Jerami Grant has not gone away since the trade deadline and they will be one of the favorites to land Grant in an offseason trade should the Detroit Pistons decide to part ways with their leader at the forward positions.
