1. Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons are heading toward another top pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Troy Weaver has reshaped the entire roster, as Killian Hayes, a lottery pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, is the longest-tenured Piston currently.

There is a good collection of young players on the roster, as Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart were also first-round picks in 2020 and the team landed Cade Cunningham with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

The one area that the team has shown interest in upgrading is at the center spot. For example, they showed interest in Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline. Deandre Ayton should be their No. 1 target in free agency this summer.

Ayton would provide the Pistons with everything they are looking for in the middle. He has more upside than someone such as Stewart as the starting center given his potential offensively. Ayton is young enough turning 24 in July to fit the timeline, but would also bring playoff experience to a young team that is lacking much leadership.

Acquiring Ayton would help legitimize a Pistons team that has some solid pieces but lacks experience right now to get the job done. Adding him to the core of young players they have and with Jerami Grant in the fold would lead to plenty of more wins as soon as next season.
