LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers (29-40) took on Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves (41-30) in part of the Wednesday NBA slate. The T-Wolves coasted to a 124-104 win.
The Timberwolves began the game outscoring the Lakers 31-17 in the first quarter. They piled on more before halftime to take a 21-point lead at the break. There was no coming back from that for Los Angeles.
Karl-Anthony Towns produced an impressive 30 points and eight rebounds while receiving 27 points, six rebounds, and four assists from his co-star Anthony Edwards.
LeBron James did not play well in this one as he finished with 19 points on 8-21 FG (38.1 percent), 1-8 3P (12.5 percent), and 2-5 FT (40.0 percent) with more turnovers (five) than assists (four). None of the Lakers’ players managed to reach the 20-point threshold and the team posted 41.9-22.2-69.6 shooting splits.

Coming off a staggering 60-point outing, Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves have been playing great basketball lately, and throughout the season.
Over the last 10 games entering this game, Towns was averaging 27.3 points and is shooting 57.3 percent from the floor. Minnesota has posted an 8-2 record in that span.
For the Lakers, it has been the opposite. Despite LeBron James doing his best to shoulder the load, the team entered this game having gone 2-8 over their last 10 with their outlook of NBA title contention falling off a cliff.
The Minnesota Timberwolves became the latest team to continue the pile on the Los Angeles Lakers have been taking as of late. Teams have been putting up big nights against them, and with Towns having one of the bigger nights in the NBA last game, he was ready to hand it to them.
