Swap Russell Westbrook And Talen Horton-Tucker For John Wall And Eric Gordon
Ahead of the NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers did explore trade opportunities for Russell Westbrook and one of the only teams that was willing to listen were the Houston Rockets.
Having another “unmovable” contract with John Wall, the Lakers and Rockets engaged in trade conversations on a deal that would swap Westbrook and Wall for each other once again, but the Rockets bailed out ahead of the deadline due to the Lakers’ unwillingness to add a draft pick to the deal.
John Wall has drawn interest from other teams around the NBA, but virtually no other team is able to trade for him because of the fact that Wall will be making $47.3 million after he opts into his 2022-23 player option.
The Lakers with Westbrook’s contract is the only team that can make this trade work, which is why they must try to find a way to get it done in the offseason.

Not only can they make this deal Russell Westbrook for John Wall, but they can attach a first-round pick and Talen Horton-Tucker to the trade in order to possibly land Eric Gordon as well.
Los Angeles’ biggest problem right now is that they do not have any reliable secondary talents and their three-point game is almost non-existent.
Eric Gordon is amongst the best in the league in three-point shooting this season and given all of his experiences with a championship contender in Houston, he would be a smart addition for the Lakers to put next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Russell Westbrook and Talen Horton-Tucker really bring nothing to the table in terms of contending for a championship, which is why the Lakers need to move them for players that can help them win right now in John Wall and Eric Gordon, even if this trade will cost them more in taxes.
