The Los Angeles Lakers suffered another embarrassing defeat during Wednesday NBA slate at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota blew them out, winning 124-104. It was the third consecutive loss for the Lakers, who have lost each game by at least 11 points.

Minnesota won the season series against the Los Angeles Lakers 3-1 and none of their victories were very close. The Timberwolves are having a very good season and they let the Lakers hear it throughout the game.

One of the players who received the most trash talk directed toward them was Russell Westbrook. Westbrook has been hearing it from the media and fans all season for his struggles, and now opposing players are beginning to dish it out as well.

Westbrook has been known as a relentless trash-talker throughout his career. Given his struggles, this season, his peers are now giving it back to him. But, he doesn’t pay it any mind.

“I honestly don’t pay no mind to it,” Westbrook said of the Wolves talking smack. “Maybe the other guys [do]. But they weren’t talking to me. They were talking to individual guys particularly, but the trash talking doesn’t bother me none.

“Nobody over there has done anything in this league that would make me pick my eyes up, like, ‘Oh, they’re talking mess. Let me respond.’ No. It’s fine. They’re good. They won the game. Happy for them. Move onto the next one.”

While the Minnesota Timberwolves as a franchise hasn’t had much success recently, they have some excellent players on the team. Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best centers in the league and scored 60 points on Monday night. Combined with Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves have one of the better young duos in the league.

They also have some well-traveled veterans, such as Patrick Beverley. He made sure to let Russell Westbrook know that some players have accomplished things on Minnesota after he saw the comments.

“Playoffs every year,” Beverley wrote while retweeting Westbrook’s answer. “2 western conference finals with 2 different Teams individual stats or team stats? I thought it was a team sport??”

Patrick Beverley has been on some good Houston Rockets and LA Clippers teams, which he is referencing in his message. After spending some seasons on the other end of Russell Westbrook-led teams beating his, he has to feel good about this one. There is a chance these teams could meet in the second matchup of the NBA Play-In Tournament, which would certainly be a chippy affair should it come to fruition.
