Making The Case For Trading Julius Randle
Since joining the New York Knicks, Julius Randle has averaged 21.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and has shot 44.5% from the floor.
However, Randle’s numerous have dropped by the following this year: -3.6 points, -0.3 rebounds, -0.8 assists, -3.6 FG%, and -9.4 3P%
If Julius Randle is going to be the leader of the New York Knicks and the face of the franchise, he needs to be finding ways to improve and this slight decrease in production this season has directly contributed to the Knicks going from a 41-31 team to already have 40 losses this season.
Maybe they can still figure things out with Julius Randle being a long-term All-Star on this roster, but the Knicks would be smart to at least see what other teams would offer for the star big man.

It is possible that the Knicks can get more needed assets now in a trade for Randle than they could acquire by moving other assets on their roster and the big reason why they should look to move Julius Randle is the fact that they recently extended his contract through the 2025-26 season.
Right now, the Knicks are stuck with Randle, and should he not bounce back during the 2022-23 season, he will have one of the worst valued contacts in the league, similar to the problem the 76ers are dealing with Tobias Harris right now.

Randle can still be a productive asset on the Knicks’ roster, but if they are not going to add another star to their roster to compliment his play, they might as well trade him for the most value they can get and begin to build around a superstar-like talent in RJ Barrett.
