Pascal Siakam and the Toronto Raptors (38-30) took on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers (29-35) in part of the NBA Monday slate. The Raptors took care of business with 114-103 being the final score.

It doesn’t get much more embarrassing for a team than the Lakers’ 140-111 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. LeBron James stayed on the floor despite the blowout to keep racking up his stats despite playing in the first part of a back-to-back.

For the Lakers, it did get worse. They were held to just 12 points in the first quarter and it was enough to seemingly take them out of a realistic outlook to get the win. Los Angeles never recovered from that point on.

As long as the Lakers’ season continues to play out, the lower the bottom reaches. Will they finally turn things around? That remains the key question.

Gary Trent Jr. (27), Pascal Siakam (27), and Scottie Barnes (21) each surpassed the 20-point threshold for the Raptors in this one. Despite shooting 10-37 (27.0% percent) from deep, Toronto was able to comfortably win.

The Raptors are currently vying to maximize their standing in the Eastern Conference. Fred VanVleet being sidelined at times has been challenging to overcome. There was a chance he wasn’t going to play in this one, but he did and his presence was needed.
