Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks? 

Trading Julius Randle is something the New York Knicks could explore, but they would need to be getting a handful of assets in return. Sterling Brown would not fit in at all with the Knicks, likely resulting in him being another “Kevin Knox” for them, and the Knicks already got rid of Tim Hardaway Jr. once, so why would they want him back?

Hardaway Jr. was originally traded to the Dallas Mavericks in the Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas trade during the 2018-19 season after a short stint with the Knicks. 

While he could be a key three-point weapon next to Evan Fournier, the Knicks really have no need for him, especially given that Tim Hardaway Jr. is owed $53.6 million through the 2024-25 season. 

If the Knicks were to trade Julius Randle, they would need to be receiving some draft picks and key players that are not tied down to long-term deals.

This trade with the Dallas Mavericks is one of the worst they could make and while the Knicks have made bad moves before, team president Leon Rose and GM Scott Perry are a lot smarter than previous Knicks’ leadership. 

Should Dallas want Julius Randle, they will have to come up with a lot better than this poor proposal.
