The Knicks have a lot of work to do in the offseason in order to get back to where they were last season as the 4-seed in the Eastern Conference.
In order for New York to turn themselves into a real contending threat in the East, they will need to not only establish rotations consisting of reliable scorers, but they will need to add another star to this team.
The addition of an All-Star and/or superstar talent on this New York Knicks roster would open things up on the offensive-end of the floor tremendously and finally give them an identity to move forward with.
Julius Randle was an All-Star during the 2020-21 season, but he is not a superstar talent in this league and has reached the peak of what he can be in the NBA.

Pursuing a different All-Star in free agency or on the trade market makes the most sense for the Knicks moving forward, which is why Randle could possibly be on the trade block in the near future.
It is hard to imagine the Knicks would move Randle for Tim Hardaway Jr. without an overhaul of draft compensation, but Hardaway Jr. could be the shooter that they have been missing on the perimeter.
As for Dallas, they must find a way to pair Luka Doncic with another All-Star and Julius Randle is not a bad option. He has proven to be an effective scorer in the frontcourt and the best part about trading for Randle is the fact that he would be the “hometown kid” for this Dallas Mavericks franchise.
Tim Hardaway Jr. has been a key offensive weapon for Dallas over the years, but the Mavs made a mistake giving him a $75 million contract and they can correct this mistake by trading the scoring wing for an All-Star talent with a close enough contract.
