3. Johnnie Bryant

When the New York Knicks were filling out Tom Thibodeau’s staff in 2020, one of the more intriguing hires they made was Johnnie Bryant. Bryant came over from the Utah Jazz and was renowned for his work as a developmental coach.

He, along with Kenny Payne, has done a wonderful job with some of the Knicks players. There is no denying that some of them, such as RJ Barrett, have made sizable jumps since being coached by them.

Players selected later in the draft, such as Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes and Jericho Sims, have also been great.

A lot of that, Bryant is responsible for. If the Knicks were to move on from Thibodeau, he is someone that many fans would be happy to see get an interview. He already has experience with the players on the roster, so there wouldn’t be as major of an adjustment needed as normal when a new head coach is put in place.

Bryant is also someone that has a great relationship with Donovan Mitchell, whom many believe could ask for a trade this offseason. If he were to be available in trade talks, the Knicks could improve their chances of landing him by having Bryant installed as head coach.
