The New York Knicks have struggled mightily throughout the 2021-22 NBA season. It has gotten to the point that some people are questioning whether or not Tom Thibodeau should be brought back for a third season as the head coach.
Usually, the Thibodeau cycle takes a little longer than this to play out. His coaching arc has followed similar paths with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves, but to come full circle in this amount of time is surprising.
Thibodeau helped lead the Knicks to a 41-31 record during his first season as head coach, earning the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. He took home the Coach of the Year Award as well, but less than a year later, there are some people ready to show him the door.
One of those people is reportedly William Wesley, who is executive vice president of the franchise. He has reportedly been placing a lot of the blame for this season on Thibodeau, who has seemed to struggle a little more this season with rotations and adjustments compared to last season.
