The Golden State Warriors sent a message on Saturday in their 122-109 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The defending champions who were among the NBA’s hottest teams had no answer for them with Klay Thompson dropping in eight makes from deep en route to 38 points.
“That one felt good,” Thompson said about his season-best performance.
The floor was opened up significantly by the Warriors’ decision to deploy Jordan Poole in the starting lineup for the first-time alongside Stephen Curry and Thompson. Even with the NBA’s all-time leader in made 3s only accounting for two attempts, the starting group dropped in 14 total.
Curry finished with eight points but Thompson (38) and Poole (30) combined for a staggering 68 points with Andrew Wiggins chipping in 21, too. The situation is clear; when Thompson is hot, the Warriors can just absolutely crush even the best of teams teams.

“Everybody makes a big deal about my shooting, man,” Thompson said. “I mean, I’m not happy with how I was shooting but I know these nights are within me. I just know. I’ve done too many great things that players haven’t done before to doubt myself.”
There’s been plenty of ups-and-downs for Klay Thompson as he’s been working his way back into prior form after consecutive season-ending injuries. He had shot 25.0 percent or worse from beyond the arc in each of his previous four performances.
