Reggie Jackson and the LA Clippers (36-34) took on Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons (18-50) in part of the NBA Sunday slate. The Clips took care of business in this one with 106-102 being the final score.

It was a bit of a struggle in the first half for the Clippers as they trailed 53-39 at halftime.

Led by Marcus Morris Sr.’s 30-point performance, the Clippers mounted a significant second-half rally to ultimately grind out the win vs the Pistons. They outscored Detroit 31-19 in the third quarter and followed it up by adding another 36 points to the scoreboard.

Cade Cunningham had a solid outing with 23 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists along with Jerami Grant chipping in 21 points of his own. In the end, it just wasn’t enough to get the win.

The Clippers came up short in their 112-106 loss to the Atlanta Hawks in their previous outing. Reggie Jackson (24) and Ivica Zubac (24) combined for 48 points, but it wasn’t enough.

In their previous outing, after giving the Boston Celtics a real fight, the Pistons lost 114-103 after being held to two made field goals in the fourth quarter of the game. Cade Cunningham (27), Jerami Grant (20), and Marvin Bagley III (20) each finished with at least 20 points.

There is a need for the Clippers to stack up wins for momentum and to maintain their outlook in the Western Conference standings, and they achieved just that in this one.

The Detroit Pistons may be among the league’s worst right now, but they have been competitive and are playing for development for the stretch run. The next step for the Pistons will be to learn how to close games and this loss vs the LA Clippers is a prime display of that.
