The Denver Nuggets are receiving yet another MVP caliber campaign from Nikola Jokic as Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. remain sidelined. With the start of the 2022 NBA playoffs approaching, it’s worth asking, how close is Murray to coming back?

According to Mike Singer of Denver Post, there is “no return assured this season” for Jamal Murray, and the odds are “50-50 at this point” of it happening.

“Nearly 11 months after tearing his left ACL, Murray is getting physically closer to returning, although no return is assured this season, league sources told The Denver Post.

“With a month left in the regular season, two league sources described chances of his return at 50-50 at this point. Another league source emphasized the decision on when to return lies with him.”

With the end of the regular season rapidly approaching, the Nuggets do not have a “cut-off date” and are operating under a “day-by-day basis” with Murray’s recovery.

“As of now, the Nuggets don’t have a cut-off date for when a return would be impossible, two sources said. Murray and the team are taking it on a day-by-day basis. At this point, Murray is getting treatment, testing his body and seeing how it reacts.”

There would surely be a requirement for Jamal Murray to take time to find a rhythm before he was to return to prior form as the lethal high-volume scoring threat we’ve grown accustomed to seeing.
