Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors (45-22) took on Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets (39-27) in part of the NBA Thursday slate. It was the Dubs who came out on top in this one with 113-102 being the final score.

Despite being without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr., Jokic has done his best in true MVP fashion to carry this Nuggets team throughout the 2021-22 season. They’ve been relying heavily on his heroics late in games, whether it’s been taking over as a scorer or dropping dimes.

The Denver Nuggets just didn’t quite have enough left in the tank vs the Warriors playing their fourth game in five nights to be able to pull off a late comeback effort.

Diminished recent play from Stephen Curry has been key in the Warriors’ regression, but he had a strong outing in this one with 34 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. He shot 11-21 (52.3 percent) from the field, 5-12 (41.7 percent) from deep, and 7-7 (100 percent) from the line.

Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins both continued to struggle, but Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga filled important roles off the bench. Poole hit what ended up being the dagger from the corner and finished with 21 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. Kuminga added 18 points.

In this Warriors vs Nuggets matchup, Thompson finished with 18 points on 7-20 (35.0 percent) from the floor and 2-8 (25.0 percent) from deep while Wiggins had seven points on 3-11 (27.3 percent) from the floor and 1-7 (14.3 percent) from deep.

The Golden State Warriors cannot get Draymond Green back in the lineup soon enough, and they will not have to wait too much longer as he is targeting Mar. 14 against the Washington Wizards to return.

Both of these two teams have a lot to play for as they are in the midst of needing to maximize their seeding in the Western Conference playoff picture.

KYRIE EARLY LANDING SPOTS: The 2021-22 NBA season has been a strange one for Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets, to say the least. It still remains as such given he is still ineligible to play in home games and would not even be able to play in a road matchup with the Toronto Raptors in the play-in tournament. READ MORE
