John Wall – Houston Rockets
The question of “what will happen with John Wall” has been asked for several months now and we still do not have an answer to it.
The Houston Rockets traded Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards for John Wall back in 2020, but Wall played in just 40 games last season and has yet to play at all this season.
The former All-Star point guard wants to get back on the floor and play, but the Rockets have no need for him and with Wall having a $47.3 million player option for next season, it has been nearly impossible for them to trade him.
The Heat will not trade for Wall, as they have no way to bring in his $40 million-plus contract. However, Miami has shown great interest in pursuing John Wall should he be bought out of his contract and while it is unlikely at this time that he will be bought out of his contract with the Houston Rockets, there could be some discussions held in the offseason in readers to a potential buyout between Wall and the Rockets should they fail to trade him.

A lot would need to happen for John Wall to end up a member of the Miami Heat, but there does seem to be some mutual interest between the two sides.
John Wall could likely play alongside Kyle Lowry in the Heat’s main rotation and it is possible that he could be willing to embrace a role coming off-the-bench and attacking the opposing team’s second-unit.
Getting John Wall on a minimum contract, much like they have with Victor Oladipo, would be a dream come true for the Heat, however, it is still unlikely that Wall will either decline his player option or be bought out of his contract.
