Dallas Mavericks

At the end of the day, the Mavericks want to bring back Jalen Brunson and they are going to do everything possible to make sure they bring back their young complimentary guard.

Dallas is prepared to pay Brunson whatever he wants in free agency, but one of the biggest roadblocks in the way of the Mavs re-signing him is their own financial situation.

The Mavericks are committed to $122.7 million in total between Luka Doncic, Tim Hardaway Jr., Spencer Dinwiddie, Davis Bertans, Dorian Finney-Smith, Dwight Powell and Reggie Bullock, leaving little room for Dallas to sign Brunson and remain under the luxury tax line for next season.

Should the Mavericks re-sign Jalen Brunson and bring him back to Dallas for many years to come, then they will need to move at least one of the players listed above.

Dwight Powell and Davis Bertans seem like the two most likely players for Dallas to try and move, but each of their values on the floor do not add up to the value on their contract, which could make things tough for the Mavericks to try and trade either of them.

Figuring out the cap numbers will be hard for Dallas to do, but if they truly do want Jalen Brunson back, he should be more than willing to put their offer at the top of his list.
