NBA Analysis Network

The 2021-22 NBA season did not start out the way the Mavericks wanted it to, but since the start of 2022, Dallas is 23-8 and they are currently the 5-seed in the Western Conference, just 1.5 games back from the 4-seeded Jazz.

One of the best defensive teams in the NBA, the Mavericks have done a great job adjusting their defense this season and they are looking to advance past the first-round in the playoffs for the first-time since they won their only title in 2011.

Luka Doncic has been having a terrific season with the Mavericks, as he is starting to gain some attention for MVP, but finding consistency on offense has been tough for this organization all year long.

Spencer Dinwiddie has played well since joining the Mavs at the trade deadline and Dorian Finney-Smith recently received a big contract extension after his performances this year, but Jalen Brunson really has been the No. 2 weapon next to Luka Doncic on this team.

Now in his fourth NBA season with the Mavericks, Jalen Brunson is averaging career-highs in points (16.0), rebounds (3.7), assists (5.2), steals (0.9) and both field goals made (6.4) and field goals attempted (12.8) per game.

Jalen Brunson has also started in 46 of the 64 games he has played in this year for the Mavericks, marking the most starts in a season in his career.

Being just 25-years-old, Brunson has quickly turned himself into one of the more impactful combo-guards in the league, especially because of his ability to be a “sixth-man” type of player.

The Mavericks love the production Jalen Brunson has brought them through the years, but they could end up having a tough time bringing him back in the offseason, as the young guard is going to be an unrestricted free agent.
