Jalen Brunson – Dallas Mavericks
Unrestricted Free Agent – 2021-22 Salary: $1,802,057
While he has been a backup guard in Dallas for the last few seasons, Jalen Brunson has really stepped up his game this year and has arguably been the second-most important player on the Mavericks’ roster next to Luka Doncic.
This year, Jalen Brunson is averaging career-highs in points (16.0), rebounds (3.7), assists (5.2), steals (0.9) and both field goals made (6.4) and field goals attempted (12.8) per game.
Jalen Brunson has also started in 46 of the 64 games he has played in this year for the Mavericks, marking the most starts in a season in his career.
Just 25-years-old with tons of experience dating back to his days at Villanova, Jalen Brunson may be undersized, but he certainly does not look that way on the floor!
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: 3 Possible Free Agent Destinations For Jalen Brunson
While the Mavericks do intend on keeping Jalen Brunson on a new long-term deal, they will have a fair amount of competition when he officially becomes a free agent.
Both the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons are expected to show a level of interest in the 25-year-old guard and each team does have the capability to match any offer Dallas may give to Brunson.
After signing Dorian Finney-Smith to a four-year, $52 million extension, the Mavericks could have a tough time financially giving Jalen Brunson a similar or even higher paying contract, especially if they do not move Dwight Powell, Davis Bertans or Tim Hardaway Jr. in a trade this offseason.
