Julius Randle and the New York Knicks (28-38) took on Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks (40-26) in part of the NBA Wednesday slate. The Knicks came out with a comfortable 107-77 win.
Since returning from the NBA’s healthy and safety protocol, Doncic has been on an absolute tear for the Mavericks, and so has the team as a whole. Since the start of the 2022 calendar year, Doncic was averaging 29.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 9.0 assists in his last 28 games entering this matchup.
Doncic did his best to rally the Mavericks back into the game by cutting it to 14 points in the third quarter. He finished with 31 points, six rebounds, and four assists on the night while his team shot 27-86 (31.4%) from the floor, and 6-44 (13.6%) from deep.
No longer is the storyline prevailing the Mavericks’ side of things with Kristaps Porzinigs getting “revenge” against his former team. He was dealt to the Washington Wizards at the NBA trade deadline. Now, it’s the storyline regarding Luka Doncic being 0-4 against the Knicks at home in his career.

Julius Randle led the way for the Knicks with 26 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. New York wasn’t all that terrific offensively in this game, it was their defense that set the tone.
The New York Knicks appeared to be too deep out of the play-in mix at this point but will continue to compete to stay in the mix.
