Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors have been one of the top teams in the NBA so far this season, but have hit a bit of a rough patch of late. After losing to the Denver Nuggets on Monday night by a final score of 131-124, Golden State dropped their fifth straight game. Despite the loss, rookie guard Moses Moody was a major bright spot for the Warriors.

In the loss, Moody put together the best performance of his young NBA career. He scored 30 points on 10-of-23 shooting and knocked down five of his 12 three-point attempts. Moody also got to the free-throw line six times, knocking down five of those shots.

Following the loss, Kerr took a moment to talk about Moody. He heaped praise on the young guard and talked about how bright his future is with the Warriors.

“He’s a keeper. He’s a guy who’s going to be a cornerstone for this team for a long time to come. It’s easy to see that right now in his rookie year.”

At just 19 years of age, there is no question that Moody has big-time potential for the Warriors. He is already showing himself capable of playing at a very high level at such a young age. With a few years of hard work and development, Moody could be an integral piece of the Warriors’ future.

Golden State has to be feeling good about their young pieces in place. With Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson not getting any younger, guys like Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, and James Wiseman will see their roles increase. Those three guys must continue developing and improving in the coming year or two.

Moses Moody will be a player to keep a very close eye on. Slipping to the No. 14 overall pick was a surprise and a chance that the Warriors are very thankful to have been given. He is beginning to show the teams that passed on him that they might end up regretting their decision.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Moody with the Warriors. But, as of right now, Steve Kerr and Golden State have to be feeling very good about their future.
