Are We Getting Close To Zion Williamson’s Return For Pelicans?

The New Orleans Pelicans have found their stride after the CJ McCollum acquisition at the trade deadline. Soon, they could be getting Zion Williamson back in the lineup amid all of the rumors spreading around the NBA about his future with the organization.

According to Shams Charania and Will Guillory of The Athletic, Williamson is returning to New Orleans and has been “cleared to progress in basketball activities.” This update comes after a recent announcement from the Pelicans organization about “improved bone healing” being shown in scans.

“New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is returning to New Orleans after spending time in Portland for his foot rehab and is cleared to progress in basketball activities, sources tell The Athletic.”

“This update comes after the Pelicans announced Wednesday that imaging on Williamson’s right foot showed improved bone healing and that he would gradually progress to full weight-bearing exercise and basketball activities. They added the power forward still remains out indefinitely.”

With CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram forming an intriguing one-two punch for the New Orleans Pelicans, the team is very much in the mix for the playoffs. Holding the final play-in spot in the Western Conference, any news about the return of NBA superstar Zion Williamson will be key to monitor.
