The Milwaukee Bucks have played all but one game without Brook Lopez in the lineup during the 2021-22 NBA season. Soon, that could change as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, and Khris Middleton continue to lead the team as Lopez nears a return to the lineup.
Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer recently shared an update with reporters about Brook Lopez’ status amid his efforts to return to the lineup—stating he is “going to start contact and 5-on-5 scrimmaging.”
“Brook is going to start contact and 5-on-5 scrimmaging, which really doesn’t happen much this time of year and so he hadn’t had any of that yet. So he will now start having some scrimmage and contact and we’ll organize that. It’s another good positive step for him.”
Not having Lopez in the lineup has negatively impacted the Milwaukee Bucks’ defense. His understanding of timing, angles, and positioning along with being key for on-court communication make him invaluable to the team’s defensive execution.
Brook Lopez remains a name to watch in NBA injury news as the Bucks continue to compete for seeding in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
