Sacramento Kings

At the trade deadline this year, the Kings made one of the biggest moves by going out and acquiring All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis at a hefty price. The Kings are tired of missing the playoffs and with them likely to miss the postseason for the 17th consecutive season this year, they will be very aggressive in their search to add more talent in the offseason.

Forming a “Big 3” of De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis and Julius Randle could be advantageous to the Kings’ front office, especially since Sabonis and Randle would immediately become one of the better frontcourt pairings in the league.

Both of these big men are two of the better rebounders in the NBA right now and the Kings do have some tradable assets that could be of interest to the Knicks.

Seeing as Richaun Holmes’ value has decreased dramatically in Sacramento, the Knicks could view him as a replacement for pending free agent Mitchell Robinson and Harrison Barnes is an intriguing veteran that the Knicks could add for scoring depth on the wing.

Donte DiVincenzo, Justin Holiday and Trey Lyles are all also possible trade assets that could go to New York.

Ultimately, a trade package of Julius Randle and Kemba Walker for Harrison Barnes, Richaun Holmes, Justin Holiday, and a first-round pick is not a bad deal for either side.

For the Kings, they would be forming their “Big 3” to try and make a playoff push, as well as adding Kemba Walker as a veteran backup guard behind De’Aaron Fox. For the Knicks, they would free up some cap space in 2023 by making this trade, as well as address key scoring needs around the court.

Harrison Barnes could be a primary scoring weapon alongside RJ Barrett, Justin Holiday provides shooting on the wing and Richaun Holmes is a big man under contract through the 2024-25 season that would be a perfect fit given his two-way play in the paint.

Sacramento knows they are not far off from being a playoff team in the Western Conference, but adding another high-level, borderline All-Star talent may be necessary for them to get over the hump.
