The Washington Wizards have 21 games remaining the 2021-22 NBA season to prove to Bradley Beal that they have a plan in place and the pieces to turn into a winning team once again.
If they are unable to do that, Beal could very well leave as a free agent this offseason when it is widely expected that he will decline his player option to become an unrestricted free agent.
The Wizards got off to an excellent start this season, but they were unable to sustain that success. They are now one game behind the 10th place Atlanta Hawks for the final spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament, but they will have to earn it without Beal’s help.
Beal will be sidelined for the remainder of the season because of some ligament damage in his wrist. The Wizards and their fans are certainly nervous about what could happen come the offseason, but recent comments from Beal are certainly encouraging about what the future may hold.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bradley Beal Adds Major Fuel To Speculation About Wizards Future
The Wizards acquired Kristaps Poringis from the Dallas Mavericks ahead of the trade deadline, along with a second-round pick, in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. While Kristaps Porzingis is injured himself, the upside he has as a former All-Star is much higher than what Dinwiddie or Bertans possesses.
Bradley Beal likes the potential that the lineup could have with Porzingis, Daniel Gafford and Kyle Kuzma. That kind of size is something Beal said the Wizards have lacked.
Well, that is certainly something the organization likes to hear. It sounds as if Beal is happy with the move that was made ahead of the deadline, which will only improve their chances of keeping him long-term.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bradley Beal Adds Major Fuel To Speculation About Wizards Future
A duo of Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis is certainly a strong one offensively when both players are healthy. With role players such as Kuzma, Gafford, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Deni Avdija, Rua Hachimura and Corey Kispert to fill in around them, the Washington Wizards could make some noise in the Eastern Conference as early as next season.
All the team is missing is a point guard, but Bradley Beal had shown this season that he can run the offense when needed.
