Since trading Paul George away to the Thunder in the 2017 NBA offseason, the Indiana Pacers have seemed to be stuck between being a playoff threat and nothing more than a playoff hopeful in the Eastern Conference due to injury concerns on their roster.
Once more this season, the Pacers have had to deal with a ton of injuries which have left them very short-handed for a vast majority of the season.
After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2015 last season, the Pacers’ goal entering this season was to get back to the playoffs, but they went in a different direction as a franchise at the trade deadline seeing as they were not making up any ground in the standings.
Trading away Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert, Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday, and Torrey Craig at the deadline, the Pacers entered what they are calling a “re-tooling process”, but the easier name for this is called a rebuild.

Indiana gave up a lot of assets at the trade deadline this season, but they not only received some intriguing names in Buddy Hield and Jalen Smith, but they also received second-year guard Tyrese Haliburton, who checks off all the early boxes for being a star in this league.
Haliburton was putting together a fantastic season with the Sacramento Kings, something you do not hear often for a Kings player, and the trade involving him going to the Pacers at the trade deadline shocked the NBA world.
Only 22-years-old, Tyrese Haliburton still has plenty of room to grow in this league and he has already been the focal point in Indiana since arriving at the deadline. In 7 total games with the Pacers, Haliburton has averaged 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 10.1 assists, 2.0 steals, and has shot 46.8% from three-point range on 47 total attempts.
