Cory Joseph – Detroit Pistons
Much like the Thunder, the Detroit Pistons are a rebuilding franchise in the NBA right now and they have a couple of veterans on their roster that could be on the move in the near future. Jerami Grant and Kelly Olynyk are two talents that the team could look to leverage for future value ahead of the draft in the offseason, but Cory Joseph is someone that they could just settle on a buyout agreement with right now.
Cory Joseph is in his 11th NBA season and while he is a really solid backcourt option, he is simply taking time away from some of the Pistons’ younger players right now.
Killian Hayes, Cade Cunningham, Hamidou Diallo, Frank Jackson, and Saben Lee are all young talents the Pistons have on their roster right now, and getting them as much experience as possible is going to be key.
Playing Cory Joseph provides stability and teachings for this young group, but the Pistons are not expected to keep Joseph past this season anyways, especially since he has a $5.2 million player option for next year.

Whether it is through a buyout agreement or a trade, the Pistons are not going to be having Cory Joseph a part of their future core, which is why they should just buy him out right now and let him sign elsewhere.
Again, it is likely that he finishes the season with the Pistons and the team explores options for moving him in the offseason, but like Derrick Favors, he is one of the key veterans that teams are monitoring over the next several hours in buyout talks.
