Basketball has a very rich history in the St. Louis area and they have always been known to be a successful sports market and city as well.
The St. Louis Cardinals have been a baseball franchise in the city since 1882, they housed the St. Louis Rams from 1995-to 2015, and the St. Louis Blues have been an NHL franchise since 1967.

The Enterprise Center is the Blues current arena and it is a multi-purpose arena that is more than well-suited for an NBA franchise. Being able to hold just under 20,000 people, the St. Louis arena is more than ready for a basketball team.
Both Seattle and Las Vegas would likely be rewarded with an expansion franchise before St. Louis, but they are still certainly in the running for a future franchise and have the infrastructure to make it happen.
