The New York Knicks have had a very inconsistent NBA season up to this point and currently 25-34 on the season, their chances of making the playoffs are looking very slim.
New York’s offseason signing of Kemba Walker has not worked out the way they initially imagined and after shutting him down for about a month from November to December, the Knicks and Walker have agreed to shut the former All-Star down for the remainder of the season.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi, the Knicks and Kemba Walker have agreed that the four-time All-Star will be sidelined for the remainder of the team’s schedule, allowing him to prepare for the 2022-23 season.
Immediately following Wojnarowski’s report, the Knicks and team president Leon Rose released a statement saying that the team supports Walker’s decision to shut things down for the remainder of the year and that his long-term success on the floor remains the Knicks “priority.”

Having one more year left on his contract, Kemba Walker will enter the offseason as a prime trade candidate for the Knicks, but finding a team to potentially send him to will be difficult.
Walker’s market before New York signed him in the offseason was very slim and given his struggles and durability concerns with his knees this season, Kemba Walker is not going to be drawing much trade interest.
Now 31-years-old, Walker is being viewed by some organizations as a complete liability in the backcourt and making $9.1 million next season, the Knicks could very well be stuck with the veteran point guard.

However, this may not stop the Knicks from trying to field interest on Kemba Walker in the offseason and there are a few teams that could be looking for a backup point guard with Walker’s experiences in this league.
His contract is certainly something teams would be skeptical about, but these three teams may be willing to take a chance on trading for Kemba Walker at a small price.
