There are a few big named players that could end up being on the move this upcoming NBA offseason. Recently, it was predicted that Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, or Zion Williamson would be the next All-Star to request a trade from his respective team. One player that should also be included in that list is Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards.

Beal is out for the remainder of the 2021-22 season after suffering an injury to his wrist. He has been sidelined since January 29th as a result, and that could have very well been the last time that he suits up in a Wizards jersey.

Beal will likely become a free agent this offseason, as he has a player option for the 2022-23 season. That is likely to be declined so that he can sign a long-term max contract. Which team will that long-term contract be signed with?

Washington certainly hopes that it will be with them. Given the lack of teams with cap space this offseason, they have to feel pretty good about their chances of re-signing Beal. However, sign-and-trades have become popular for a player to land with a team that doesn’t have the cap space to sign them outright.

There are plenty of teams who would get involved in the Beal sweepstakes to execute a sign-and-trade deal. One team that is always looking to upgrade and will do whatever it takes to get closer to winning an NBA title is the Miami Heat.

Despite lacking assets, they are seemingly always connected to All-Star players that could become available. However, Beal is one player that an NBA scout believes they should not be pursuing because it would likely cost them Tyler Herro in the package.

“I would not give up Herro [in a package] for [Bradley] Beal this summer,” the scout said. “The talent differential is not big enough to do that now.”

Herro is having a great season for the Heat as their sixth man. He is the odds on favorite to take home the Sixth Man of the Year award this season and he certainly deserves it. The Kentucky product is averaging 20 points per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

Herro is an integral part of the Heat’s success this season as the leader of the second unit. The strides he has made, based on what the scout is saying, have closed the gap enough on Beal that including him in a trade wouldn’t improve Miami’s roster as much as most people would think.

That is certainly something people would debate, but it wouldn’t be only Tyler Herro going to the Washington Wizards. The Miami Heat would have to include other pieces and further diminish the depth on their roster.
