Memphis Grizzlies

A dream scenario in Zion Williamson trade talks from NBA fans’ perspectives would be for Zion to be traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, pairing him with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and 2019-20 Rookie of the Year in Ja Morant.

The young Grizzlies star beat out Zion Williamson for Rookie of the Year a couple of seasons ago and the two young stars have a long friendship amongst one another dating back to their days playing AAU basketball together.

In fact, the Pelicans even tried to pair Williamson with Morant in the 2019 NBA Draft by attempting to move up to the No. 2 pick in the draft, but Memphis was not interested in anything the Pelicans had to offer, according to Christian Clark of New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Pairing the No. 1 and No. 2 picks in the 2019 NBA Draft together in Memphis would instantly create the NBA’s best youthful duo and give the Grizzlies exactly what they need to contend for a championship.

While this move could wind up costing them either Dillon Brooks or Jaren Jackson Jr., it could very well be worthwhile, especially if Ja Morant gives Grizzlies’ management the green light to pursue Zion.

This is certainly a long-shot to think about, but Zion Williamson ending up on the Grizzlies is definitely in the realm of possibilities entering the offseason.
