New York Knicks

If Zion Williamson is to leave the New Orleans Pelicans, Knicks fans will finally have something to rejoice about because there would be a very high chance that he would want to come to New York.

Leading up to the 2019 NBA Draft, there were a lot of rumors about Zion Williamson wanting the New York Knicks to end up with the No. 1 pick in the draft via the draft lottery, but the Pelicans ultimately ended up with the top pick.

New York has always seemed to be the prime destination for Zion Williamson in the NBA, which is why they would likely be No. 1 on his list of teams he would like to be traded to.

The Knicks can definitely make a trade for Zion work as well, especially since they are under the luxury tax threshold and can give New Orleans plenty of “win-now” secondary talents. Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks, Kemba Walker and Derrick Rose would all be put on the table for the Pelicans in trade talks centered around Zion Williamson and the Knicks could even be willing to part with Obi Toppin or Quentin Grimes.

Another key reason why the Knicks would be high on Zion’s preferred destinations list is because of the fact that they have R.J. Barrett and Cam Reddish, two of Zion Williamson’s close friends and teammates from Duke.

All three players were drafted inside the Top-10 of the 2019 NBA Draft and could immediately create the future core of the New York Knicks.
