There was a lot of build-up to the 2022 NBA trade deadline and while some big moves were made, it was pretty underwhelming overall. If the Caris LeVert, Domantas Sabonis, and CJ McCollum deals were held off a few days until the deadline, there definitely would have been more exciting fireworks, but nonetheless, there were still some big moves made on Thursday.
After weeks of speculation about James Harden’s future with the Brooklyn Nets, the Nets agreed to terms on a deal to send Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round picks. Brooklyn also sent Paul Millsap to the 76ers in this deal.
Other than Harden being on the move, there were not too many big moves until right before the clock struck 3 PM ET and the Dallas Mavericks traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards.
This was a pretty surprising move, especially since the Mavericks were not said to be actively looking to trade Porzingis. In the back of everybody’s mind, this always remained a possibility, but it is definitely surprising to see them get out of the three years and $101.5 million remaining on Porzingis’ contract.
