Would this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
For the Orlando Magic, this trade should be a no-brainer. With the direction the team is headed in, they have no use for veterans like Terrence Ross and Robin Lopez. Trading them in for younger players and a second is a solid deal.
Talen Horton-Tucker hasn’t panned out the way the Los Angeles Lakers might have hoped. That being said, he isn’t exactly being given a ton of freedom. He’s still a super young player and he needs a long leash in order to grow and reach his full potential.
Playing next to LeBron James and company puts him in a pickle. He needs to play a very specific role in order to help his team succeed. Playing in Orlando would allow him to play like himself, thus giving him the freedom he needs to improve.
Meanwhile, Kendrick Nunn isn’t slated to play for a while. However, the Magic could take him in and then trade him this offseason for even more value if they don’t see him as a long-term fit on their roster. He’s still only 26 years old.

Orlando would also get DeAndre Jordan, who they could just buy out, as well as a second-round pick in this trade. Considering they want to prioritize their youth anyway, giving up a couple of veterans for more young talent and draft assets is a win.
