Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
The Celtics have not ruled out the possibility of keeping Dennis Schroder through the end of the season, but their mindset when they first signed him was to try and flip him for future value at the NBA trade deadline.
While this trade does not present the most value to the Celtics, they at least get an athletic 22-year-old wing in Troy Brown Jr., who the team has shown interest in trading for in the past.
With the Cavaliers recently trading for Caris LeVert, the possible list of suitors for Dennis Schroder has grown smaller and the Chicago Bulls could very well be one of the only teams to contact the Celtics about the veteran guard.
The Milwaukee Bucks have also been mentioned as a team interested in Schroder, but they too may not be willing to offer more than what the Bulls are.

Troy Brown Jr. and a future second-round pick are not bad at all for a trade return, especially since Boston could continue to try and leverage assets at the NBA trade deadline, including Brown and this draft pick they get from Chicago!
This is definitely not a terrible deal given that they want to trade Dennis Schroder for value, but it is most certainly not the best deal they can get.
