The saga between the Philadelphia 76ers and four-time NBA All-Star Ben Simmons has gone on for months and things don’t seem any closer to a conclusion. However, if the organization is serious about making a move, they are running out of time.
The 2022 NBA Trade Deadline is set for February 10th, meaning the 76ers only have a few days remaining to find a deal. Indications are that a deal won’t be reached, as Daryl Morey has not budged from his asking price of an impact, All-Star level player being in the return package.
It has become clear that Morey is hoping to eventually land James Harden, but it takes two to tango. The Brooklyn Nets have given no indication they are looking to move Harden, but the 76ers have shown they are in no rush. They won’t make a deal unless they get exactly what they are looking for.
Could a team get desperate in the coming days and make a move to acquire Simmons, giving Philadelphia what they are looking for? Sure, there is a possibility that occurs. But, if the 76ers want to maximize their chances of winning a title this year, they will have to adjust their asking price.

There were some rumors they would like to attach Tobias Harris to Simmons in a salary dump, but that, as expected, didn’t drum up much interest. If a deal is going to get done, Morey will have to come down on his asking price.
If that occurs, while extremely unlikely, could the Washington Wizards get involved in the Simmons sweepstakes? What could a deal between the 76ers and Wizards look like? Here’s a hypothetical trade package that would end the standoff between the 76ers and Simmons, sending him to the Wizards to create a new superstar duo with Bradley Beal.
