Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets are a rising threat in the Eastern Conference, but deploying Mason Plumlee in the starting center role is just not going to get the job done.
Opposing teams are able to help off Plumlee to pressure LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, Terry Rozier, and Gordon Hayward when they are attacking the rim. As a result, the Charlotte Hornets have to slide over PJ Washington to the five spot at times to open the floor up.
There are genuine limitations with Washington defensively and that’s why an elite rim protector with a stretch-five skill-set in Myles Turner would be such a helpful fit for the Hornets.
One of the complications for the Charlotte Hornets may be Myles Turner’s foot injury, but regardless, he won’t be sidelined for long beyond the NBA All-Star Break. If not at the NBA trade deadline, the team needs to make a move for Turner around the 2022 NBA Draft.

The long-term future needs to be what the Hornets have in mind as opposed to making an impulsive move at the NBA trade deadline. Turner would be an impactful piece and being patient to get a deal done is key.
