Eric Gordon

After struggling with injuries during the 2020-21 season, Eric Gordon is having a strong season and has revamped his trade value in a major way. The Houston Rockets remain in a rebuild and appear primed to move on from him.

Gordon is averaging 14.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while shooting 49.0% from the floor and 42.0% from beyond the arc. He has shouldered more initiation responsibility in the Rockets’ half-court offense at times when Jalen Green or Kevin Porter Jr. has been sidelined in addition to his regular off the catch production.

It never hurts a team with championship aspirations to add more spot-up shooting threats into the fold. For the Phoenix Suns, they are lacking high-level complementary threats coming off the bench in the backcourt. Gordon would bring a threat that can hit the catch-and-shoot jumper or get to the rim.

Having versatile scoring threats in the supporting cast is important for a team with championship aspirations. A bench backcourt of Cameron Payne and Eric Gordon would have a combination of shot creation while being able to create rim pressure—something not all contenders have coming off the bench.
