Thaddeus Young
It has been a strange season for Thaddeus Young during what will be his lone-year with the San Antonio Spurs. After being moved in part of the DeMar DeRozan sign-and-trade with the Chicago Bulls, there hasn’t been a legitimate role for Young.
Young has appeared in just 26 games on the season for the Spurs and is averaging just 6.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 14.3 minutes per game. He is shooting an efficient 57.8% from the floor in the limited opportunities he’s received.
While Young is not much of a perimeter shooting threat, he can provide an intriguing playmaking element and defensive versatility as a big wing that can fill in as a small ball center option. Also, Young has worked quite well alongside centers like Nikola Vucevic and Domantas Sabonis in some of his recent seasons.
Young has the size and quickness to help with guarding stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant. While no single player can ‘shut down’ one of those superstars, he has the tools and understanding of the game to be able to make them work.

The short-roll playmaking presence that Young can provide when filling the four spot alongside a traditional center should not be understated, either. If Devin Booker or Chris Paul were to get double-teamed, he can offer relief.
