Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have really caught fire and have been surging up the NBA standings in recent weeks. Since the Sixers won in Boston on Dec. 20, they have gone 16-5 and are now 31-20 on the season, just 1.5 games back from first-place in the Eastern Conference.
In this same time span, Joel Embiid has averaged 33.7 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and has shot 53.3% from the floor.
Since their win over the Celtics in December, Embiid has recorded at least 30 points and at least 10 rebounds in 11 games, putting himself firmly at the top of the MVP conversation this season.
The 76ers have been in the news across the NBA since their early exit to the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs last season and also because of all the drama surrounding Ben Simmons.

As of right now, Simmons remains a “member” of the 76ers and the front-office would like him to come back and play for the team, but there is a very small chance of this actually happening.
Ben Simmons wants to be traded and no longer wants to be a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. Both sides could have handled this situation differently, but with the trade deadline almost one week away, there has been no advancements on any trades pertaining to the three-time All-Star.
Daryl Morey and the 76ers’ front-office have stood firm on their stance of wanting an All-Star-level talent in return that can help them contend for a championship, hence why Simmons has not been traded just yet.
