Will Chicago Bulls Make Another Major NBA Trade Deadline Push?

Chicago Bulls, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Chicago Bulls have been facing adversity all NBA season long. They had a few games postponed because of how many positive COVID-19 cases were on the roster, leaving them under the league’s threshold of eight healthy players.

Numerous injuries have occurred, as starting power forward Patrick Williams was lost to a wrist injury in October and will likely miss the remainder of the regular season. Most recently, Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso were both sidelined as well.

Caruso will be sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks because of a fractured wrist suffered on a dirty play and hard foul by Grayson Allen. He will be undergoing surgery, along with Ball. Ball is having a slight meniscus tear repaired and will also be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.

Staying afloat without two key rotation members will not be easy, but the Bulls have dealt with players being in and out of the lineup all season. Replacing two guards will present some challenges, but Chicago has shown they are up for whatever is thrown their way.

Will those injuries change the team’s plans ahead of the NBA trade deadline? They shouldn’t, as both players will be back in time for the postseason. Looking like legitimate contenders already, Chicago should go all-in on another major trade.

The wheels of this rebirth were put in motion at last year’s NBA trade deadline. The Bulls acquired Nikola Vucevic from the Orlando Magic, pairing him with fellow All-Star Zach LaVine. While they didn’t make a push last season, the Bulls announced their presence with that move and contend building the roster up in the offseason.

This year, they could do the same. One player that could be on their radar is Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons. Grant can fill numerous roles on a team, as he has thrived as a star role player and go-to scorer.

Grant’s two-way play would fit in well with the Bulls and could help separate them from the other contenders in the Eastern Conference.

A move of that magnitude would likely cost the Chicago Bulls Williams, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. However, when you are as well-positioned as the Bulls are to contend this season, you have to seriously consider going all-in.
