Would this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
For the Houston Rockets, this would give them the chance to capitalize on Christian Wood’s great season before he enters the last year of his deal. Getting Duncan Robinson and some picks would be a solid return for the big man.
As mentioned, Robinson isn’t having the best season, but there’s definitely still a market for him. He doesn’t really fit the timeline in Houston, but he would be a great trade chip for them to play around with in the offseason.
KZ Okpala is also a pretty underrated piece for the Rockets to acquire. He hasn’t shown much in his time with the Miami Heat, but he certainly has some crazy defensive chops. Playing in Houston would give Okpala a nice change of scenery to potentially revitalize his young career.
Those two unprotected first-round picks would be the best part of the deal, though. Miami will probably still be good by then, but a first-round pick is a first-round pick. At the very least, Houston will have some firsts to help them trade up.
