Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
Daryl Morey has been adamant about waiting for the right trade to move Ben Simmons. This would fall under the category of “the right trade.” To be quite honest, the Philadelphia 76ers would have probably done this trade months ago if the Washington Wizards were willing to give up Bradley Beal.
Putting Beal alongside Joel Embiid would create one of the best duos in the entire league. The combination of Simmons and Embiid hasn’t worked, but having someone who can work around the perimeter next to Embiid would be ideal.
Beal has led the league in scoring twice and would undoubtedly take a ton of pressure off of Embiid. Despite his inefficient shooting from range this year, the mere threat of having Beal on the perimeter would force defenders to leave Embiid alone in the post.
Both Simmons and Embiid need to control the paint in order to be at their best. That was likely one of the biggest reasons why the pair was never able to reach their peak potential. The duo of Beal and Embiid wouldn’t run into that issue at all.

Since Simmons’ value is likely a bit low now, though, the Sixers would probably have to give up both a young player and a pick in a deal for Beal. Regardless, adding a player of Beal’s caliber would be well worth it for Philadelphia.
