Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
Trading Buddy Hield ahead of the trade deadline is certainly a move that makes sense, but in doing so, the Kings need to make sure they are getting value that can be utilized moving forward.
Tim Hardaway Jr. could very well be a player on the wing that they are interested in to replace Hield’s production. Afterall, he is a cheaper option that does have more years of experience in this league.
However, waiting until 2025 to get a first-round pick is a lot to ask the Kings to do and there is no immediate need to trade Buddy Hield. He is one of the best three-point shooters in the league once again this season and Hield is under contract through the 2023-24 season.
Should a deal not be agreed upon at the trade deadline this season, Sacramento could very well turn their attention to trading Buddy Hield ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft for some extra first-round compensation.

Maybe this will be the best trade on the table for Hield at the deadline this season, but the Kings should have no desire to tie themselves down to another long-term contract like that of Hardaway Jr. ‘s this season.
