The NBA trade deadline is less than two weeks away and one of the teams at the center of attention for once is the Sacramento Kings. The only attention the Kings ever seem to get is when the NBA is announcing the NBA Draft Lottery order, but they are actually heavily involved in trade talks right now.

Sacramento has not made the playoffs since 2006 and as a result, they are looking for ways to add more talent to their roster.

Currently 3 games back from the Portland Trail Blazes for the 10-seed in the Western Conference, there is an outside chance that the Kings could actually contend for a playoff spot via the play-in tournament this season.

However, the chances of them actually making the playoffs and ending their long playoff drought are low, especially after they have lost their last two games to the Celtics and Hawks by a combined 70 points!

Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley III, Harrison Barnes and Richaun Holmes are all on the trade block in Sacramento this season, but there is a possibility that the Kings could talk about trades with opposing teams centered around fifth-year point guard De’Aaron Fox.

According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, some rival executives around the league believe that De’Aaron Fox remains “getable” in trade talks leading up to the trade deadline because of the team’s recent lack of success.

The 24-year-old Fox cemented himself as one of the better scoring point guards in the league last season when he averaged a career-high 25.2 points per game and in 43 games this season, De’Aaron Fox has continued to prove that he is a versatile offensive weapon, averaging 21.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists and shooting 45.8% from the floor.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on January 19 that the Kings have “no plans” to trade De’Aaron Fox and will center the team around him, but the Kings are just looking for talent at this point in their rebuild and leveraging Fox could be their best path to getting said talent.

Could the Kings actually move their best talent in De’Aaron Fox at the trade deadline? Should he be available, these three teams must be “all-in” and pursue the young guard.
