The Washington Wizards got off to a great start to the 2021-22 NBA season, but things have seemed to stall out for them over the last several weeks.

Being just 10-17 since the start of December and after squandering a 35-point lead against the Clippers on Tuesday night, it appears that big changes are on the horizon for the Wizards with the trade deadline being about two weeks away.

The future of Bradley Beal remains in question and while this team definitely has more talent and depth than last season, their playoff hopes are quickly fading away.

At 23-25 on the season, the Wizards are currently tied with the Knicks for the 10-seed in the Eastern Conference and they are dangerously close to slipping out of the play-in tournament field.

Other than Beal, this Washington team just simply does not have the firepower to be an elite-level or even a playoff-level team in the East, which is why they need to add another star to pair with Bradley Beal.

Finding another All-Star to acquire at the trade deadline will be very tough to do, which could ultimately lead to the Wizards going after some big names in the offseason, but a player like Christian Wood could be on their radar.

In the second-year of a three-year, $41M contract, Christian Wood has turned himself into one of the more underrated big men in the entire league. Since joining the Rockets ahead of last season, Wood has averaged 19.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and has shot 49.9% from the floor, 37% from three-point range.

Trade interest in Christian Wood is very high right now, so if the Wizards are to make a move for him, they will have to be willing to offer up some of their best assets at the trade deadline this season.

Could the Wizards ultimately trade for the Houston Rockets big man? Let’s take a look at a trade proposal from Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz that sends Christian Wood to our nation’s capital.
