Would this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?

As mentioned, this trade would be all about adding depth for the Los Angeles Lakers. Obviously, they wouldn’t be getting back the same amount of star power when trading Anthony Davis, but the depth they’d receive could be more valuable this year.

If this deal got done, the Lakers’ starting lineup could look something like this – Russell Westbrook, Kelly Oubre Jr., Gordon Hayward, LeBron James, Mason Plumlee. They could rotate PJ Washington into that starting lineup and then would still have Talen Horton-Tucker and Avery Bradley coming off the bench.

Davis is great, but his shooting woes have really put the Lakers’ offense in a pinch this year. This trade would see three super-efficient three-point shooters be traded to Los Angeles. Hayward, Oubre, and Washington are all having solid years from deep.

All James-led championship teams have been built on big threes, but that’s not working this year. Why not try out a trade that would put depth around the superstar and let him go to work? He’s been so dominant this year, anyways, so why not just let him shine?

That may sound a bit crazy, but something has to change in Los Angeles. This team clearly isn’t working, and since Westbrook doesn’t have trade value, why not take a look at deals like this? They’ve won a title with Anthony Davis before, but that team had a lot more depth. This one doesn’t.
