Would this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?

The Los Angeles Lakers would be trading away some of their star power in exchange for a lot more depth on their roster. While they did recently win a championship with Anthony Davis on the roster, that team looked a lot different than the one they are rolling out this season.

When the Lakers won a title, they did it with two superstars and a ton of quality depth. Then this year, they traded away all that great depth in exchange for another star. That hasn’t panned out the way they would have liked.

Getting Pascal Siakam to replace Davis would be a downgrade, but he’s actually putting up fairly similar stats this season. Plus, he’s been a better shooter this year, so that would help the Lakers on the perimeter a ton.

The same can be said for OG Anunoby, who is now an elite two-way threat in the NBA. He can score, he can shoot, and he can defend. That’s the exact type of player Los Angeles should look to put around both LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.

While the Los Angeles Lakers would probably rather trade Westbrook, he holds significantly less value than Davis. Getting Siakam and Anunoby, plus two solid shooters in Yuta Watanabe and Svi Mykhailiuk would greatly improve the Lakers’ depth, thus potentially putting them in a better position to succeed.
