Kyle Anderson – Memphis Grizzlies

Sticking with the idea of adding a guy to their roster that is in the final year of his contract, Kyle Anderson is another intriguing name to keep tabs on at the trade deadline. The Memphis Grizzlies have found a ton of success this season and are currently the 3-seed in the Western Conference at 31-16 on the year, but Kyle Anderson’s role has been very minimal.

Obviously, he is beloved in the locker room, and given the Grizzlies’ chemistry, their front office will likely not want to shake things up, but Anderson has missed some time this season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

The Grizzlies do not have to worry about opening up any cap space and they are expected to be buyers at the trade deadline in an effort to be real contenders this season. However, GM Zach Kleiman has proven in the past that he is always looking to add future value to his team.

Kyle Anderson could very well be a means to acquiring more future potential for this Grizzlies’ roster, which is why he is expendable this season. Seeing his minutes drop from 27.3 to 22.4 this season, Anderson’s role in Memphis has decreased and other, younger options like Desmond Bane, Brandon Clarke, and John Konchar are starting to see more minutes than him.

Making $9.9M this season, finding a way to bring in Anderson’s contract could be tough for the Chicago Bulls, but they could definitely look to make this a multi-team deal in order to get Memphis what they would want in return.

The easiest way to make this trade work from the Bulls’ point of view would be to trade Derrick Jones Jr., whose contract is basically equivalent to that of Kyle Anderson’s at $9.7M this season.

Once again, Coby White could be another key talking point in trade talks here for the Bulls, as the third-year combo-guard holds a fair amount of value given that he is averaging career-highs in field goal percentage and three-point shooting percentage.

Kyle Anderson can defend multiple positions, he can rebound, score off-the-dribble, shoot from the perimeter and most importantly, he can come off-the-bench and lead the second unit.

While he is not the kind of talent the Bulls will bring in and instantly be the team to beat in the Eastern Conference, Kyle Anderson can supply the Bulls with what they are missing on the wing – a key, versatile defender.
